Health News👮♂️👨🚒👷♀️👩⚕️👨🏫
Welcome to Health and Wellbeing in Term 4 with Mr Anthony and Miss Fleur. This term we continued learning about ‘Staying safe in our community’ and things our community does to keep us safe, focusing on the Groups in society tasked to keep us safe, such as Life guards, Police, Ambulance workers, teachers and school crossing lollipop people.
We then looked at steps we take to keep ourselves safe, focusing on dangers within our own homes and the importance of Stranger Danger.
KITCHEN NEWS🍕
This term in the Stephanie Alexander Garden Kitchen we invited our classroom teachers to share a meal with us.
The students made invitations and prepared meals for their own class teachers. Thank you to the teachers that came on their prep days to join us.
We also have been learning about different countries around the world. We have cooked meals inspired from Thailand, Italy, India and Mexico.
It has been a great way to in the year in the kitchen.
XMAS IN THE LIBRARY🎅🎄
We've had a wonderful year in the library and it's been inspiring to see our students enjoying borrowing their books each fortnight and to see them progress with their reading skills. This term has flown very quickly.
In week 6 some festive cheer came early to the library at our family event 'Christmas at the Library'. Mrs Claus (aka Miss Sarah) was visited by some of our favourite Christmas story characters who entertained our families with story inspired games and activities.
A great time was had by all. Many thanks to the staff who volunteered their time to put on this event for our families.
Why not visit the Bundaberg Regional Library with your child over the holidays or even borrow eBooks online. The library also offers a reange of activities that the children may enjoy.
Wishing all our families a very happy holiday.
YR12 SENIOR PROM
November 14 we celebrated the class of 2023 with the Senior Prom. What a special night it was.
Thank you to our amazing families for making this night so special for our 10 graduating students.
We are now looking forward to Graduation Day on Friday.
PE NEWS⚽🚲
PE is always loads of fun!
This semester we have been engaging in activities using our feet – soccer, obstacle courses, bike riding and sensory trays.
We have been expressing how our body reacts and responds to physical exercise and expressing preferences for our favourite activities.
FARM NEWS 🌿🥑🐛🐤
Wow, 2023 school year is just about done and dusted. The rain over the past couple of days has come at the right time (timing is everything). The Farm has a beautiful green glow to it and the chickens are enjoying getting out and about in the mulch chasing bugs and other critters.
This year hasn’t been productive as we would have like with the overly wet start to the year and the dry end of the year. However, the mango and avocado trees are producing beautiful fruit at the moment, hopefully we can get some off before the flying foxes and possums find them.
The SAKG Garden (Farm) has been supported extremely well by both the amazing staff here and groups in the community.
- Bunnings came on board early in the year and donated two raised garden beds and some soil to help promote growing in areas of the Secondary area where some students find it hard to transition. They also donated wheelie bins to help with the collection of cans for recycling. The money raised has enabled us to purchase mulch hay for our gardens. A
- Earlier in the school ran Bunning’s Sausage Sizzle supported by our P & C, school community and the Lions. A portion of this money was used to purchase a food processor, a dehydrator and two electrical juices for our farm.
- Greens Solutions have also supported our Farm by donating bags of Organic Chook manure to help condition the garden’s soil.
Thank you to our amazing staff for support SAKG Farm and our students.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you all.
